Dear Stan, Gulf Air's shirt sponsorship deal with QPR_is a superb arrangement for both parties.

With Gulf Air we have shown we mean business and the coverage QPR will get next season will certainly help Gulf Air as well.

Obviously for me, having been based in the Middle East for six years, it is great. It will ensure where possible my flights are with Gulf Air from now on.

It has not been easy being a QPR fan in recent years. I left the UK during our first season in what is now league One, my final game was Port Vale away on a wet Saturday afternoon. The game finished 0-0 and the next day I was on my way to Dubai.

I managed to keep my season ticket for a few years, thanks to my dad, who went every week and managed to keep my seat.

Since then I have got back for half a dozen games per season including the play-off final defeat to Cardiff.

I have followed closely the difficult times financially and footballing wise but we have always been a special club and I hope that remains.

There is a special bond between QPR fans and the six of us (that I know of) in Dubai meet up whenever we are live on TV.

The early part of my life was spent watching the likes of Seaman, Parker, Bannister, Waddock, Roeder, etc - the last decade hasn't been so kind with players like Kulscar and Rehmann - but with the owners and sponsors we now have we are heading back to where we belong. Watch out Chelsea.

Can the club win promotion this year? It will be very tough. There are lot of good sides in this league and you normally get a couple of surprises as well.

The key is getting off to a good start and being consistent.

From December onwards last season we were one of the top sides in the league and the feeling among many R's is a couple of additions could see us push on again.

The owner's don't fail often but QPR have a habit of letting you down so I am hoping this year can be the one.

We are a proven striker short at the moment for top two but the play offs are a reality.

Playing football out here myself there are a lot of talented Arab players and it won't be long before they start breaking through on a regular basis. If you know of a Sheikh Ferdinand ... I will personally pay his airfare to London.

QPR fan in Dubai visiting Bahrain.

Dear Stan,

TO help reduce the number of plastic bags being used on the island, Bahrain International Travel is giving all its leisure customers reusable shopping bags when they collect their travel documents.

Every week the typical family living in Bahrain heads home from the supermarket with plastic bags full of shopping. Often these bags only contained one or two items.

Individuals can make a difference; small changes in our routines like 'Saying No To Plastic Bags' will help.

Josephine D'cruz,

Destination management

consultant,

Bahrain International Travel.
