Steven Bland became the first golfer to win a title on the new Colin Montgomerie-designed golf course at the Royal Golf Club, before construction has even been completed!
Bland won the Callaway golf simulator competition at the Riffa Views Golf & Leisure retail outlet last week after hitting his tee shot to within four feet of the pin of the 16th hole on the simulated version of the eagerly awaited course.
"This was the first time I had been to Country Mall to try out the simulator so I was delighted to win," said Bland. "It was great to be able to get a feel for the new Royal course on the simulator and I can't wait to get onto the real thing now!"
The weekly competition on Bahrain's only golf simulator was run every day for six weeks with the prizes sponsored by Callaway, one of the world's leading golf hardware manufacturers.
The previous week, keen golfer Sassan Sarkoob won the competition for the second week in a row. Sarkoob managed to hit his tee shot to within 3 feet 8 inches of the hole at the simulated version of the Hanauma Cliffs golf course in Hawaii.
