Think actionable analytics and collaborative analytics ... the first thing that comes to the mind is building of OLAP cubes to facilitate business intelligence.
Trouble is, the process requires strong technical skills and domain expertise along with in-depth understanding of the various contributing layers. Bottom line - this is not the forte of the uninitiated - or so we thought, until now.
QlikTech, originally a Swedish company now headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA, is a pioneer of a ground-breaking technology in business intelligence.
Using patented technology, QlikTech developed QlikView, a product that has outclassed traditional OLAP-based rivals.
A study by the Gartner Group rated QlikView topmost in the visionary quadrant in terms of completeness of vision and power of execution.
It is interesting to note what made QlikView a runaway success, says Ashok Kumar, CEO of Spartan Infotech which represents Qlikview in Bahrain. Spartan is part of the reputed multi-million dinar diversified Mohamed Ahmadi Group of Companies
Mr Kumar added: "QlikView facilitates enhanced business intelligence without the limitations, cost or complexity of traditional BI tools. QlikView's architecture is different from that of other platforms. It doesn't require pre-built online analytical processing (OLAP) cubes.
"Instead, it enables in-memory manipulation and analysis of data.
"Not having to develop OLAP cubes saves significant development time. QlikView can be deployed in days and users are trained in minutes.
"Designed specifically for business users, QlikView puts information at your fingertips instantly, giving you the intelligence you need to act quickly.
"QlikView was created with a simple premise: analysis should work the way your mind does. And so, QlikView Associative Logic closely mirrors the way the human mind works (people think in a non-linear path driven by building associations).
"To achieve the goal of associative analysis, QlikView loads all data into memory and calculates metrics as the user clicks. It's really as simple as that!
"Operating in memory provides the speed, flexibility, ease-of-use, and visually interactive user interface that associative analysis requires. This approach leaves OLAP based BI tools far behind."
Gartner further goes on to say that by 2010, 80 per cent of Fortune 1000 companies will load data into memory for their analysis. With processing power increasing and larger addressable memory made available, the in-memory model for enhanced BI is set to stay.
QlikView is compatible with ERP/CRM frameworks and works with most industry standard databases. While the 32bit edition should suffice for most business needs, a 64bit edition is recommended for power users.
QlikView 8.5 was released in July. Now recognized as the leading provider of next generation BI solutions, QlikTech has been the fastest growing BI software company in the world for three years running (2004-2007) according to IDC.
QlikTech's revenue is growing at a rate of 80 per cent annually. QlikView users include banks and financial institutions, airport services, postal services, manufacturing and trading companies and petrochemical industries amongst others.
Today QlikView has more than 365,000 users in 82 countries, over 8,000 customers and continues to grow at an astonishing average of 12.5 customers every day.
