Metito, the international water desalination and wastewater treatment specialist, will provide wastewater treatment to Riffa Views Signature Estates in Bahrain.

The company linked up with the BD300 million development at the start of the year with a small temporary plant treating wastewater as an immediate fast track solution, and developed the plant into a 'Build, Operate, and Transfer' project (BOT) which aims to cater for the growth of the residential area.

The now ready-to-operate Sewage Treatment Plant is able to treat 3,600 cubic metres of wastewater per day.

"It's really a win-win situation for the Riffa Views and Metito relationship," said Walid Madwar, business development manager, Metito Utilities. "The post-treatment water from the plant will be used to irrigate the golf course and increase the beauty and serenity of Riffa Views and make Bahrain greener."

Metito, founded in 1958, is an example of a Middle Eastern company that has grown to be a world leader in its field and operates in 14 countries of the Arab and Islamic world, and supplies its plants internationally to locations as far apart as Argentina and Australia from its base in the United Arab Emirates.

Some of the company's notable recent achievements include high purity demineralised water supply for Jebel Ali and Umm Al Nar power projects and a MBR waste water treatment plant for Palm Jumierah and Al Yas Island in the UAE and a large sea water desalination plant for The Pearl project in Qatar.
