Watch out for it: Day of fun on Showtime

A whole day of kids and family entertainment is lined up for Friday on Showtime from 7am.

OK kids, have we got a treat for you! There is a whole day of back-to-back animation, stocked to the brim with the likes of ogres, talking cars, party animals and a whole host of others to entertain the family.

Open Season kicks off the Ani-Mazing day on Friday at 7am.

With the new hunting season a few days away, domesticated grizzly bear Boog is released back into the woods after being led astray by crazy mule deer Elliot. Knowing nothing of the wild life, Boog must heed the call of nature fast ... or end up as someone's hearth rug.

Debut director Gil Kenan follows at 9am with Monster House and he may just have provided the first genuine horror film for children. Three young teenagers discover that the creepy old house across the street has a (malicious) mind of its own and it's up to them to save the neighbourhood!

From the acclaimed creators of Toy Story, The Incredible's and Finding Nemo comes Cars at 11am - a high-octane adventure comedy that shows life is about the journey, not the finish line. Hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life.

Computer-animated fur flies in Over the Hedge at 1pm when cunning raccoon RJ (Bruce Willis) dupes a band of woodland critters into raiding the larders of a shiny new suburb. It's nuts!

Get ready for thirds in Shrek the Third at 3pm. The greatest fairy tale never told continues with a whole new hilarious comedy of royal proportions. When his frog-in-law suddenly croaks, Shrek embarks on another whirlwind adventure with Donkey and Puss In Boots to find the rightful heir to the throne.

Dinner is served at 5pm in Ratatouillle. In one of Paris' finest restaurants, Remy, a determined young rat, dreams of becoming a renowned French Chef. Torn between his family's wishes and his true calling, Remy and his pal Linguini set in motion a hilarious chain of events that turns the city upside down.

Wrapping up the day, there's chaos on the farm in Barnyard. Otis, the carefree cow, finds responsibility thrust upon him when his dad is mauled to death by coyotes and he has to take the role of protector to a barn-full of livestock. However, the youngster is a diehard party animal and enjoys the newfound status of leader!
