Turbo-charged for its foray into the Bahrain markets, Zayani Motors, exclusive dealers of Mitsubishi Motors Co-operation (MMC) in the kingdom last week launched the stunning Mitsubishi Lancer Eclipse 2009 at its showroom.
An exotic sports car with striking design and dazzling performance, the all-new Eclipse aims to dominate the streets with its alluring presence.
For more than a decade and a half, the Eclipse's success can be attributed to several factors that have remained constant throughout its run, including sleek styling, powerful engines, comfort and affordability. And for 2009, the Eclipse comes totally revamped with a 'futuristic' look and feel.

Up-front, the Eclipse gets a new grille along with newly-styled single coloured front and rear bumper fascias. With its 'attainable exotic' design, the new generation Eclipse is further underscored with its ferocious shark-like looks and roar that is a true testament to the potential of this mean machine.
Under the hood, the Eclipse boosts of a 3.8-litre MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) V6 that delivers from 263 horsepower to 265 horses at 5,750 rpm. The V6 is offered with a standard six-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic transmission whilst the GS comes with a 162-horsepower 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic. In both engines, MIVEC helps to optimise efficiency and power across a broad engine speed range. Both automatic transmissions feature Sportronic shifters to allow manual gearshift control.
"The 2009 Eclipse sets out as one of the most distinctive shapes on the road with a new rear spoiler that defines its tone. Mitsubishi engineers have reformed this 4th generation model into an amazing one that is now even more enjoyable to drive," said Zayani Motors managing director Nawaf Al Zayani.
With upscale styling and a modern twist, the Eclipse's interior combines exotic-looking design with comfort and safety, that includes standard advances dual-stage front air bags, seat-mounted side airbags and front seat curtain side air bags. High-back front bucket seats feature integrated, open head restraints for a sporty look and enhanced rear visibility with the 50:50 split-folding rear seatbacks that provide cargo versatility.
Aimed at the younger, sports car enthusiasts, Mitsubishi has made a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with nine speakers a standard fitment on Eclipses.
A rigid platform and 4-wheel independent suspension give the Eclipse sporty road manners and a compliant ride. For the perfect drive, all models are equipped with standard four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD); the GT features larger, ventilated rear discs and standard 18-inch alloy wheels.
"With a host of amazing new features, the new model of the Eclipse range will take the legendary nameplate to an even higher level," continued Mr Al Zayani.
