Bahrain is set to host the 9th GCC Banking Conference under the patronage of Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, next year.

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) in co-operation with the GCC Secretariat-General is organising it under the theme 'A New Era in International Banking Practices: Implications for the GCC Markets'.

Governors of all GCC central banks and monetary agencies, heads of Gulf capital markets and senior bankers from the region, as well as representatives of the world's leading international financial institutions will attend the forum, to be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Spa.

"We are delighted to be hosting this Conference - especially at such a difficult time for the world markets," said CBB governor Rasheed Al Maraj.

Organising committee head and CBB executive director of banking operations Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said: "While this conference will discuss salient issues facing financial markets, and ensure the GCC's economic stability and prosperity, discussions will also highlight distinct advantages for the GCC markets in the context of global market conditions."
