Final preparations are being made to receive power and water industry experts and professionals from across the Middle East, at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

Power-Gen Middle East, which takes place from February 17 to 19, is the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, transmission and distribution and water industries and is expected to be well attended by those wanting to update their knowledge and skills and see the latest industry developments and technologies.

An excellent line up of speakers and industry professionals will deliver presentations on a range of topics and subjects covering the power and water industries, including spotlights on countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran and Bahrain.

A keynote presentation will be given by Dr Fatih Birol, chief economist of Paris-based International Energy Agency.

"With demand levels for power and water rising steeply in the region and project financing availability contracting fast, there is likely to be some serious debate at Power-Gen Middle East about how the electricity and water sectors will keep pace with the Middle East's economic expansion ," said Nigel Blackaby, director of conferences at organiser, PennWell.

He added: "Attendees at Power-Gen Middle East can expect to encounter practical solutions and state-of-the-art technology from the world's leading power engineering suppliers."

POWER-GEN Middle East also offers the opportunity to visit two of Bahrain's independent power plants. Al Hidd IWPP and the large aluminium producer Alba's onsite power plant.
