New member Dana Lilja became the first player ever to achieve a hole in one on the newly opened 18-hole Montgomerie course at the Royal Golf Club.
Dana was playing a solo round when he holed the 7th using an 8 iron. Fortunately course marshal Abbas Sarhan witnessed the achievement and coincidentally the club's general manager, Michael Braidwood, was on the course just one hole ahead at the time.
"I've only been a member of the club for two weeks so I'm over the moon to have managed a hole in one so early on," said Dana. "I can't wait to get back out on the course again to try for another!"
