TWO-HUNDRED AND_SIXTY_students are to join Bahrain Polytechnic on February 16 for semester two, 2009.

Student Services announced the acceptance of 100 students to join the previously accepted 160 students.

More than 500 students sat the selection and diagnostic test last December.

Letters to those accepted have been sent out.

Rejection letters are also being sent out to those who have not been fortunate. Results have also been placed on the website (www.polytechnic.bh).

Meanwhile, the current 208 students at the polytechnic have been involved in assessments and end of semester examinations.

The polytechnic will measure their progress for the first semester through these tests to determine the classes they will be joining for semester 2.

Previously, polytechnic students elected a student council of eight males and eight females.

Mohammed Asiri and Noor bin Jamal are co-presidents to lead the council. Other activities taking place include participating in "Bahrain Universities Model United Nations", a university quiz competition, football tournaments and two marathon relays.

A music club has started up on campus, and performed at the National Day celebrations in Isa Town.
