The MSc in Health Care Ethics and Law first run in 2008 at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)_- Medical University of Bahrain is the first course of its kind in the GCC.

There is a well recognised need internationally for advanced training in health care ethics and medical law so this part-time course is designed especially for health care professionals and those working in fields related to health care.

It will provide them with an opportunity to gain a deeper and more systematic understanding of ethical and legal issues in those fields; to explore the moral problems they face in their work; to recognise issues raising potential legal liability and to understand health care practice in its legal and social context.

Feedback from the 14 students who have completed the first year of the course has been extremely positive with many commenting on how well it is equipping them to practice in the health care market in the modern world.

The Masters programme will begin on February 15, 2009. It will be delivered over a period of two years on a part time basis and will lead to the award of a Masters Degree in Health Care Ethics and Law by RCSI-MUB. The programme is open to candidates who possess a primary degree or equivalent qualification.
