Wednesday (Feb 25) Jane Goodwin is holding a free class for individuals affected by any type of cancer diagnosis from 6pm for an hour at the World Beat Fitness Centre in Janabiya. It includes an hour of music, healing movement and meditation. For details contact 39607262.

The Art House in Budaiya is holding a Mixed Media Mobiles workshop for children from five to 12 years. Youngsters will have the chance to make small ceramic shapes or objects to glaze. Once these have been fired in the studio kiln, the children will be able to hang them on mobiles, along with other things such as beads, jewels and coloured feathers. These sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday for the whole of March and cost BD45. There are two sessions each day from 2.30pm to 4.15pm and 4.30pm to 6.15pm. For details contact 39987802.

Thursday (Feb 26)

The Bahrain Welsh Society will host a charity ball to mark St David's Day at the Gulf Hotel's Awal Ballroom, Adliya

The event will feature UK-based vocalist Bruce Anderson who hails from the Gwent Valleys and has been entertaining at international venues for two decades.

Bruce's show will include rock songs as well as choices from classic vocalists including Mario Lanza, Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Mario Frangoulis.

Tickets are priced at BD30 for members and BD35 for non-members.

Bahrain Comedy will host an Open-Mic audition night for stand-up comedy in Bahrain.

The session will be hosted by Radio Bahrain DJ and comedian Imran Al Aradi at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Manama. Each participant will be given five to seven minutes to impress the crowd and the judges from the Bahrain Comedy Club.

Participants should be over 18 and their work should be clear of politics, religion and sex.

A new concept is launching in Bahrain on Saturday with a day of activities at Country Mall.

Who I am Makes a Difference began in the USA with the handing out of blue ribbons aimed at giving people a sense of their own importance and achievement.

A full programme of well-being an educational events will be taking place at Country Mall in Budaiya with a grand balloon release at 5pm, go along and make a difference.

Monday (March 2)

French artist Catherine Protsenko will be holding an exhibition at the Casa dell'Arte gallery in Zinj until March 5. French artist Catherine studied drawing and painting at the Atelier Martin-Talboutier in France and at one of Paris' art schools and the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins. She has created tapestries inspired by the paintings of artists Rouan, Dewasne and Latapie and also paints it in a variety of styles. For more details contact Ammar on 39967666.

Tuesday (March 3)

Seven artists will exhibit their work at Albareh Art CafŽ, Adliya. The Fifty-Fifty exhibition will be held until March 5.

The concept is to show that exhibitions can find new venues away from traditional spaces of galleries or museums. Artists include Bahraini Ebrahim bu Saad and Jaffar Al Oraibi, Iraqi Ahmed Albahrani and Mahmoud Al Obidi, Qatari Ali Hassan and Salman A Malek and Egyptian Mahmoud Al Maghrabi.
