PGA Professional Lee Fickling and club captain Martin Dench of Bush Hill Park Golf Club in England held onto their overnight lead to win the Gulf Air International Pro Captain Challenge at the Royal Golf Club.

Following a one over par 73 on day one, the pair enjoyed a steady second round to finish on par, three strokes clear of the second placed St Pierre duo.

Craig Dun and 5-handicapper Eric Brown of the Marriott St Pierre were lying in fourth place at the end of round one. Dun's birdies on the 14th and 18th holes in the second round cancelled out bogies on the 15th and 16th to give them an overall par, moving them into the runners-up slot.

The lowest round of the day was an excellent two under par 70 by the Headfort Golf Club duo of Brendan McGovern and Francis Reilly who finished fourth overall.

Gulf Air chief executive officer Bjšrn NŠf was present at the prize-giving ceremony.

Final results: 1st Lee Fickling & Martin Dench (Bush Hill Park) 145 (73 + 72); 2nd Craig Dun & Eric Brown (St Pierre) 148 c/b (76 + 72); 3rd Paul Brookes & Ewan Cameron (Pitreavie) 148 (76 + 72); 4th Brendan McGovern & Francis Reilly (Headfort) 149 (79 + 70); 5th Michael Braidwood & Mark Holmans (Royal Golf Club) 149 (75 + 74); 6th Charles Giddins & Andrew Hulls (Beauport Park) 149 (74 + 75).
