A very special auction, at which invited guests got the chance to bid on once-in-a-lifetime Grand Prix goodies, raised BD4,000 for the Bahrain Society for Child Development.

The event was organised by Al Haddad Motors at its Mercedes-Benz Showroom and was attended by VIPs and dignitaries from the kingdom who were given the opportunity to own a piece of F1 history.

On offer was exclusive access to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes pit garage at the Bahrain Grand Prix and items signed by World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Al Haddad Motors' new general manager, Dr Ulf Ausprung, welcomed guests and commented: "The Bahrain Grand Prix is just a few weeks away and we have planned this event to give F1 fans the chance to take home a piece of F1 history as well as support the community by raising funds for our chosen charity, the Bahrain Society of Child Development.

"Through our close association with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 racing team, we were able to arrange a superb line-up of F1 items which includes a collector's model of Lewis Hamilton's helmet personally signed by the driver."

To kick start the event, Al Haddad Motors donated BD500 to Bahrain Society for Child Development which brought the total amount raised during the night to BD4,000.

To capture the spirit and continue the Grand Prix flavour of the event, Martin Whitaker, CEO of Bahrain International Circuit, and former team member at McLaren gave an excellent insight into working for a Formula One team as well as providing guests with a taste of what to expect on April 24-26, during the Bahrain Grand Prix race weekend.
