Leading halal food producer Co-Op Islami has relaunched itself under the name Al Islami Foods and announced a distribution deal for the kingdom.
The UAE-based firm revealed news of its agreement with the International Agencies Company Ltd whereby it will market and distribute Al Islami Foods' range of premium halal products in Bahrain.
The range will include catering chicken, processed foods, frozen and fresh meat, cheese, vegetables, canned food, honey and dates.
The launch and new distribution partnership is part of Al Islami's 'BIG 5' expansion plan across the Middle East and international markets.
Saleh Abdullah Lootah, CEO at Al Islami Foods, said: "The conventional interest-based economic system has faced a severe blow and drawn the attention of businesses to Islamic economic models that are based on the concept of co-operation and equality. Hence, the halal-food market, which is structured on these models.
"Al Islami Foods is one such success story of this system, which is grabbing greater attention from European investors as well.
"Answering the market demand for our products in the kingdom, we are very happy to expand into Bahrain market. The synergy with Intercol will be beneficial for the local market as Intercol has a widespread distribution reach in all market segments in Bahrain, assuring an excellent service to customers and consumers of Al Islami Foods products."
Al Islami also introduced its unique Al Islami Cart, 'on-the-go fresh delights every day' concept which will offer fresh hot-dogs to consumers across Bahrain.
Any young Bahraini or expat entrepreneur can set up their own business at any selected location including schools, universities, malls, cinemas and supermarkets selling the hot-dogs with help and training from Al Islami.
The franchise opportunities will be on offer shortly.
Mr Lootah said: "We are starting with our fast moving consumer goods products and will slowly move on to Al Islami Cart, our butchery shop Al Islami Meat shop and the Al Farooj fast food restaurant.
"We want to introduce them all but we want to do it well."
