Thursday (April 30) A Polish Gala night will be held at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Manama from 8pm to 1am. The event will celebrate three occasions including the commemoration of the Polish first constitution on May 3, secondly the Accession of Poland to the European Community on May 1, 2004, and thirdly May 2, the Day of Polish Expatriates. The Banyan Tree Al Areen Resort is hosting Banyan Treat Pasi—n Latina with Soprano Clara Mansilla and Tenor Herbert Suarez.

Hailing from the US, their Latino background and multi-cultural upbringing fostered a life-long love of Mexico's rural conjunto music, the sophisticated melodies of Cuba, the rhythmic sounds of Puerto Rico and the soft sounds of Brazilian folk music. They will be accompanied by Bahrain-based pianist Alistair Auld.

The concert will include music from a wide range of classical and contemporary sources ranging from Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro to Leonard Bernstein's Maria from West Side Story. Keeping with the Latino theme, the venue will also offer a concert dinner buffet with special delights from Spain, Peru, Columbia and Mexico.

The fifth St Christopher's Subscription Concert will take place at 7pm at the school in Saar on Friday. Prize winning The Navarra String Quartet including Xander Van Vliet and Marije Ploemacher on the violin, Simone van der Giessen on viola and Nathaniel Boyd on the cello will be the highlight of the concert performing works by Mendelssohn and Shostakovitch. Disney's High School Musical 2 will be held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre at the Mall of the Emirates, Dubai in July. Auditions are being held for the show which is being staged by Popular Productions in association with West End Stage Experience on May 1 and 2 at the venue.

The Indian Ladies' Association (ILA) is organising a workshop on marital relationships from 6pm to 8.30pm at the Bahrain Society of Engineers hall in Juffair. Presented by Mr. Hemant Joshi, 'Magic of Married Life: A Discovery' will be a look at marital relationships and how to manage them harmoniously. There will also be a raffle draw for a Bahrain Mumbai return ticket.

The inter-active workshop aims to make use of techniques and skills of NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming. Mr Joshi, an internationally certified trainer of NLP, has won accolades and rave reviews for his effective and humorous presentations.

The Al Riwaq Gallery in collaboration with Istanbul's Garanti Galeri is bringing to Bahrain a multimedia exhibition, 'Becoming Istanbul' beginning today at 7pm at the Al Aali Shopping Complex, Seef. The exhibition visualises the countless existences of the old Istanbul metropolis and meanings from as many angles as possible, featuring an interactive audiovisual database on contemporary Istanbul and a 16-minute complementary film titled Mapping Istanbul. It will also feature works by artists, architectural projects, videos, photographs, cartoons and essays produced in the last 10 years.

The book produced along with the exhibition is a multi-authored bedside book which discusses the current changes that the city undergoes in 152 different items.

The exhibition will run till June 7.

The Dog (Father) Show, a fun dog show and family event, in association with the Cat Society of Bahrain and Pet Animals, takes place in the grounds of the British Embassy from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

Tony, the Dogfather, Waters and his 100 plus cats, dogs, birds etc are likely to have to leave their home in June as the compound where Tony runs the 2nd Chance animal rescue, has been sold.

Come along, with or without the family pet, to this fun event to raise cash and awareness and, hopefully, help Tony and his furry friends find a new home.

There'll be music, fun doggy classes such as 'Dog With The Waggiest Tail', dogs and cats seeking new homes, stalls and refreshments and the chance to explore the embassy's gorgeous gardens. And Radio Bahrain DJ, Gulf Weekly's very own Marie Claire is MC for the day.

Entry is BD3 for adults and BD2 for children plus BD1 per dog, per class.

The Ella Art Gallery in Hoora will host the 'Moods of Colours' solo exhibition by

Archana Prakash. The exhibition will be inaugurated today at 4pm by Jehan M J Arayedh, director of research and studies. Archana was born in Bahrain and completed her studies at The Indian School, Bahrain. She is currently pursuing her bachelors degree in business administration from The Birla Institute of Technology International Centre. 'Moods of Colours' describes the cultural and traditional outlook of Bahrain. The different shades show environmental and natural combinations.

The exhibition will feature 20 pictures using pastels. It will be held until May 9 from 10am to 1.30pm and 4pm to 8pm. For details contact the gallery on 17292815.
