Wednesday (May 13) Budweiser presents the next Bud Music...Live! event featuring South African band Prime Circle at the Coral Beach Club. Prime Circle is one of South Africa's hottest emerging rock bands with international acclaim. They have played alongside Metallica, Simple Plan and Seether. The band was also nominated for the Best Rock Album and Best Song Of The Year for the MTN South Africa Music Awards. Rates are BD3. Doors open at 7.30pm and the band starts at 9pm. The Children and Mothers Welfare Society is holding a woman-only bazaar at its premises in Isa Town from 10.30am to 1pm and 4.30pm to 6pm. It will feature clothes, shoes and handbags and proceeds will go towards the society's activities and event throughout the year. Entry is free for all.

Thursday (May 14)

The Art lounge 4 exhibition runs from today until May 23 at the Villa Lutz, Barbar. It will feature German glass blower Wilfried Markus, French painter Sophie Stephan Berger, Bahraini painters Abbas Almosawi and Sayd Hassan Al Sari, UK sculptor Cheney Fairchild and Lebanese photographer Christian Ghammachi.

The exhibition opens at 7.30pm with a glass blowing performance starting at 8pm. The second glass blowing session will be held on May 16 at 3pm. The exhibition will remain open daily from 5pm until 8.30pm. For details contact Marion Labani at 17580522 or 39212060.

The Culture Vultures will host the Arthouse Open Studios 2009 event until May 23 at the Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort. Almost 30 of Bahrain's prominent artists will perform during the event which will include bus tours and other activities as well as a special event for children at the Bahrain Fort Village and Farm by Abbas Almosawi. The Bahrain Yacht Club Spring Regatta and Open Day will be a fun day for the family. It will feature a beach barbeque, children's activities, live music and also raffle prizes. Entry is free for all. The Bharathi Association's Neeluvin Nagaichuvai Arangam Tamil comedy talk show will take place from 6.30pm at the Al Raja School auditorium, Manama.

The event will feature a performance by veteran Indian drama and comedy star Neelakandan. Known popularly as Neelu who has been working in stage and film for more than 50 years. He has worked with Vivek Fine Arts, one of the oldest and most popular acting troupes in Tamil Nadu, which was led by Indian actor and literary critic Cho Ramaswamy. Neelu began his career in 1966 and has since starred in more than 160 films, sharing the screen with a number of South India's most famous actors including Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan and Sarath Kumar.

Saturday (May 16)

Bahrain-based artist Manuella Mavromichalis will conduct a clay workshop at Studio Ceramics in Budaiya from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The 'Pandora's Box' workshop will have children decorate and paint their box ready to be glazed and fired and collected one week later.

Tomorrow from 10 to 11.30am and from 12pm to 1.30pm, Studio Ceramics will offer a ceramic painting course for women - PYOP (Paint Your Own Pottery).

Price is BD12 including white bisque dinner plate, instruction, all painting materials, firing and finishing.

On May 23 from 3pm to 5pm a children's ceramics painting workshop will be held - 'Painting on Bisque: Sgraffito with Cynthia Ikponmwonba.

Monday (May 18)

The Royal Society of St George is hosting a Cookery Demonstration followed by lunch at the Candles Restaurant at the Dilmun Club, Saar at 11am.

The event will feature a demonstration of curries by Chef Babu Raj. Rates are BD7 for members and BD7.500 for guests. Proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities. For reservations contact Tracey on 39726329.

A free salsa demo class will be held for children between nine and 11 at 4pm at the World Beat Fitness Centre in Janabiya prior to a course beginning on June 1. Registration will take place for the June classes which will be held every Monday and Wednesday at 4pm. The pre-registered four week course is BD40.

Children will learn the basic footwork, with body and arm movements, and how to listen to the rhythm. There will be partner work and progression through the syllabus as appropriate. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

The Mšvenpick Hotel Bahrain is lining up a series of summertime events for the island's residents.

Art exhibition 'When the Word turns into a Fragrant Ray of Light' is being held at the Bin Mattar House, Muharraq until May 30. It features 30 works by Bahrain-based Iraqi artist Firyal Al Adhamy which make use of ceramic and wood on canvas.

It is open to the public from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm each day except Fridays.

For the month of May, the Sheraton Hotel in Manama is holding daily international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Al Safir outlet. Soie will host the Lobster promotion and An Nada Bar will host a Hot Dog promotion . The Hotel's Golestan outlet will host a special monthly business lunch.
