Real estate company Manara Developments has agreed a $4 million reclamation works contract with Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, to carry out reclamation works on the Wahat Al Muharraq project.
The contract involves hydraulic reclamation of the 170,000 sq/m project in the progressive Muharraq waterfront area, and will create a vibrant residential masterplan offering retail facilities as well as civic amenities in addition to residential units.
Dr Hasan Al Bastaki, Manara's managing director, said: "We are pleased with the selection of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company as the main contractor for reclamation works. The commencement of these works with such a reputable contractor shows Manara's commitment to developing this dynamic project which is expected to deliver a quality lifestyle address for residents from all walks of life.
"Work on the project is already underway and the reclamation works are expected to be completed in approximately three months.
"We are still at the stage of preparation of the draft master plan and the details of the project will be announced soon after obtaining the consent of the relevant authorities".
