The Indian Ladies Association is hosting its Annual Dandiya Night on October 1 at the Diplomat Radisson Hotel in Manama. Guests will be entertained with music by Rajesh Iyer and Kavita Rajvansh from Mumbai. The Dandiya tradition hails from West Indian state Gujarat where people in large numbers dance the night away forming moving circles holding decorated wooden sticks. Arab-American writer Alia Yunis will sign copies of her debut novel 'The Night Counter' at Jashanmal Bookstores on October 24 from 10am until12pm at the Seef Mall store and 5pm till 7pm at the Bahrain City Centre outlet. The novel documents the final days of 85-year-old Fatimah Abdullah and her relations with her dysfunctional Arabic family. Raised in Chicago, Alia has worked as a journalist and filmmaker in Los Angeles and the Middle East and is currently working at the Zayed University in Abu Dhabi as a professor of communications.
