A hot and trendy new nightspot aims to be the most chilled venue in Bahrain ... in more ways than one.

Forget about feeling freezing from a blast of an air conditioning unit, this place has loftier ideas when it comes to offering a cold drink.

The company behind Bahrain's latest edition to its social scene opens its newest venture later this month with four different concepts under one roof.

The Loft will include a wine bar, cocktail and cigar bar, an outdoor barbecue area along with the region's first 'ice bar' where staff will offer customers coats, gloves and blankets as temperatures drop as low as -12¡ Celsius.

The venue will be located in the popular eating out area of Adliya, near Manama.

The Loft is the brainchild of American entrepreneur Joseph Miller and his Scottish business partner Rob Graham. The nightspot will be managed by New Zealander Kim Edward.

The Loft and the recently-launched Italian restaurant Milano's in Adliya are both part of their company, Bahrain International Holdings.

Mr Miller said: "Our aim is to create a fresh and fun location with exceptional service, focusing on an impressive range of beverages and fine cuisine.

"I want people to be comfortable and happy when coming out of the restaurant thinking they had a great time and received value for their money."

Kim Edward added: "There's something for everyone. Aside from expertly mixed cocktails on the first floor, there will be an alfresco balcony to relax. Alternatively, if you want to experience something truly unique, you can step into the ice bar and enjoy an exclusive range of sub-zero flavours complemented by exceptional caviar in a room made completely of ice!"

On the ground floor the extensive wine bar offers an impressive list composed of hundreds of imported beverages ranging from BD10 to BD2,000.

The Loft will be open from 4pm onwards. For more information, e-mail theloft@yahoo.com.
