Wednesday (October 21) Nia: Healing, Movement and Meditation classes are held at World Beat Fitness Centre, Janabiyia, every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm.

This class is free and open to all those who have experienced cancer, whether currently in treatment or long-term survivors.

Thursday (October 22)

L'Hotel in Seef will host a Cuban-themed celebratory event to launch the 'Cuba!' collection of photographs taken by artist Christian Ghammachi, highlighting the essence of Cuba as seen through his eyes from 7pm to 9pm. The exhibition covers the urban landscape, artistry and people of Cuba. Every Thursday thereafter, for eight weeks, Christian will discuss his collection between 7pm and 9pm at the Salon B.

Arabian Knights, organised by Bahrain DJ Imran Al Aradi, will feature stand-up comedy auditions at the Intercontinental Regency Hotel's Clipper Room. Those selected from the auditions will perform alongside experienced local and regional comedians. Doors open at 6pm and the show will start at 7pm. Saturday (October 24)

Arab-American writer Alia Yunis will sign copies of her debut novel 'The Night Counter' at the Jashanmal Bookstores from 10am until noon at the Seef Mall outlet and 5pm till 7pm at the Bahrain City Centre store. The novel documents the final days of 85-year-old Fatimah Abdullah and her relations with her dysfunctional Arabic family.

The Mad Science Saturday classes begin today with the 'Marvels of Science' for four weeks. Sessions are from 10am to 12pm or 2pm to 4pm for children between seven and 11 years. Tuesday (October 27)

Algerian artist Hamza Bounoua will host his first solo exhibition 'Written paintings' at the Albareh Art Gallery in Adliya until November 20. The exhibition will showcase 25 of his works of art. Inspired by his cultural roots, Bounoua's work carries his heritage, Berber calligraphy as well as Islamic art and African components. He was born in Algeria in 1979 and studied at the Fine Art Institute of Algeria.
