THE Gulf Hotel has recently opened the island's first fine-dining Mexican restaurant delivering an authentic taste of South America in more ways than one.

Boasting 84 covers, The Margarita Mexicana Restaurant and Margarita Tequila Bar is open for lunch and dinner and is already attracting a devoted local and expat following alongside business travellers and tourists alike.

The kitchen team is led by Head Chef Nathan Slattery, who held the position of regional executive chef of one of the major Mexican restaurant chains in the US, assisted by Mexican Sous Chef Fernando Reyes, meaning that the menu is as authentic as possible.

All dishes, including tortillas and guacamole, are freshly prepared using only the finest ingredients imported directly from Mexico.

Signature dishes include 'Guacamole en Molcajete' and 'Mixiotes de Pollo'.

To truly quench your thirst, the restaurant's Margarita & Tequila Bar serves a range of cocktails.

The Bahraini-owned five-star hotel was established in 1969 and is today one of the largest and busiest in the kingdom with 18 food outlets, 12 of which are specialty restaurants.
