The fourth-generation Landcruiser Prado has been unveiled by Ebrahim K Kanoo, the sole distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Bahrain, at their showroom in Sitra and company officials said at the launch that they are looking forward to customers visiting the showroom and book for test drives.
Ayman Shehadeh, Toyota/Lexus brand manager, said: "Prado is one of the best established Toyota models. It combines the power of a 4WD with the comfort and style of a sedan.
"The Prado is undergoing its first full model change in seven years.
As well as functionality, Prado is famous for its luxurious interior and exterior style.
"From the ease of getting into the vehicle, to well-thought out and well-appointed inclusions such as storage space of all shapes and sizes, auxiliary access for music devices, DVD, navigation and rear seat entertainment systems, through to more leg room and flexibility in seating configurations which adds to the overall passenger experience.
"It's a powerful car and comes in two engines - the 4l and 2.7l."
The new model includes increased space between the front and second-row seats, power enhanced third-row seats, and enhancements to the full frame structure.
Additional features include the adoption of a kinetic dynamic suspension system (KDSS) for driving stability at city and highway speeds and a 'crawl control' feature that enhances rough-road compatibility.
Other off-road features include a multi-terrain selection to control engine output and brake application in line with the off-road environment and the multi-terrain monitor, which displays views of road conditions around the vehicle taken by four onboard cameras.
Ismail H Akbar, executive general manager of sales at Ebrahim K Kanoo, said: "The new Prado is bold, elegant and thought-provoking, and the perfect vehicle for anyone thinking luxury all-terrain.
"It combines the rugged dominance of its Land Cruiser heritage with the passenger-car safety and sophistication for which Toyota is renowned. Its comprehensively-enhanced petrol engine with Dual VVT-I gives more horse power and class leading fuel economy.
"Complete with driver assist technology, now is definitely the time to think Prado," Mr Akbar said.
Ten exterior colours are available for the vehicle including a newly-developed dark steel mica.
Mr Shehadeh also said that the company is looking at expanding their services with a new Toyota Plaza spanning one million sq ft in Tubli as well as a parts and body shop facilities.
The car comes in three categories - 4.0 VXL for BD20,000, V6TXL for BD14,800 and TXL for BD12,500.
