Lollypoppman has to be the sweetest of all gifts, for his new owner Fran Downes who has wanted her own pony from an early age. But she had to wait until her 'wonderful' husband Neale bought Lollypoppman (Lolly for short) for her birthday this year.
Fran started riding at the age of seven, and continued sporadically throughout her childhood and teenage years. Later, as an adult living in London, Fran rode at the Kingston Riding Centre and had a stint as a volunteer at the stables. After a nasty fall it took Fran five years to get back into the saddle. Now, in Bahrain, it was off to the Dilmun Riding Centre for lessons, and there all the enthusiasm was revived with a vengeance.
After working together they are about to make their debut this weekend at the BREEF Show Jumping Championship. Wishing them good luck.
