Alba held discussions with a high-level delegation from BMW Foundry for developing projects that are of mutual interest and strengthening ties between the two companies.
The BMW delegation was led by chief executive of Midal Cables, Salman Al-Shaikh, and comprised Dr Joerg Kopitzke and Werner Schlemmer from BMW Foundry's Purchasing and Supplier Network. They undertook a tour of the smelter and were briefed on the production processes at Alba.
"We held fruitful discussions with BMW on developing new projects that would not only strengthen the relations between the two companies but also contribute substantially to the national economy," said Alba chief financial officer Tim Murray.
The BMW delegation was contacted by Bahrain's Economic Development Board for exploring business possibilities in the kingdom, for their expansion into the region.
"The low energy costs, long term security, reliable supply of aluminium, reduction of materials costs and incentives provided to international businesses have made Bahrain attractive for investors.
"We were pleased with our discussions with the Alba team, and are looking forward to seeing the relationship transformed into a partnership," said Werner Schlemmer, department manager Supplier Qualification, BMW's Purchasing and Supplier Network.
