Children's Health Academy of Specialized Sports (CHAOSS) in Budaiya held its annual gymnastics and dance performance for parents and raised BD800 for 'Bring Adam Home' campaign, writes Asma Salman.

Three hundred children put up an impressive show that lasted more than four hours for a crowd of 500 who had come to see the children perform on stage and show support to the ongoing custody battle concerning 10-year-old Adam Jones.

The St Christopher's School pupil was taken from Rebecca last October while on a visit to her ex-husband's family in Qatar when she was duped into signing Arabic legal papers.

The Qatari courts granted custody to Adam's 77 year-old ailing grandmother but Rebecca has continued to fight an ongoing custody battle in Qatar to win her son back.

Cara Mattias, owner of CHAOSS, said: "Every year we organise an event where children perform for their parents and whatever money we collect from the show - after covering our costs - is donated to a children's charity in Bahrain.

"One of our coaches at the centre is Rebecca's friend so this year we decided to go an extra mile and make a deliberate attempt to raise funds to donate to Adam's campaign."

Posters and yellow buckets to collect donations for 'Bring Adam Home' campaign dotted the venue. A bake sale, raffle draw and sale of books was also organised to help Rebecca continue her fight to bring her son back to Bahrain.

British expat Rebecca's second husband, Barrie and their four-year-old daughter Alex attended the event while Rebecca sent thank you messages on the social networking site, Facebook, to the organisers of the event.

At present Rebecca has been granted twice-a-week visitation to Adam who remains at his uncle's home.

In a previous court hearing Adam told the judge that he wants to go back home to his family in Bahrain. Rebecca will appear in court again on March 30, after repeated delays as two Qatari companies who had previously sponsored Rebecca withdrew their sponsorship agreement. She is hopeful of finding another sponsor in Qatar to continue her legal battle.
