Gulf Weekly Interest building up in key exhibitions

Massive infrastructure spending in the northern Gulf provides the spectacular backdrop to the fifth gulfBID and inaugural gulfINTERIORS exhibitions being held in Bahrain in May.

With a combined $500 billion-worth of construction projects underway in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, interest in the exhibitions, to run concurrently at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from May 4 to 6, is building.

Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director, Hilal Conferences & Exhibitions (HCE), exhibitions organiser, said: "Large investment programmes in the northern Gulf, particularly in Saudi Arabia, are driven by the prospect of high oil prices in the long-term and the need to upgrade infrastructure to meet the needs of rapid urbanisation and growing populations. They are also fuelling demand for professional construction and interior design products and services. Consequently, gulfBID and gulfINTERIORS exhibitors have an unrivalled opportunity to raise profile, accomplish superior brand awareness, network with clients and showcase products and services in one of the world's construction hot spots."

gulfBID2010 covers the categories of building and construction, water technology and environment, air-conditioning and refrigeration, cleaning and maintenance, glass and metal, bathrooms and ceramics, marble and machinery, and construction plant, machinery and vehicles.

gulfINTERIORS, meanwhile, covers the categories of contract and residential furniture, interior design services and contracting, textiles and upholstery fabrics, beds and bedding, flooring and wall coverings, lighting, kitchens and bathrooms, art and accessories, ceramics, marble and granite, outdoor living, retail services, hospitality and office fit out.

The exhibitions are held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The exhibitions will be held concurrently with the region's first Green Building Forum, to be held on May 5 at the BIEC. The forum is organised by international event consultancy North Star Associates in association with HCE, and is held under the patronage of Shaikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Housing.
