Flights to Alexandria and Aleppo take off

Gulf Air, Bahrain's national carrier, will be launching services to two new destinations, Alexandria and Aleppo, from June.

Services to the Egyptian city of Alexandria will start on June 2 with four flights per week on Monday, Wednesday Thursday and Saturday. Flights to Aleppo in Syria will begin on June 17 with three flights per week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The airline has also announced additional flights to key destinations as part of its new summer schedule.

Gulf Air will increase its services to both Iran and Iraq. Tehran, Shiraz and Mashad will depart daily and Baghdad and Erbil services will increase respectively to a five times and three times a week. The airline will also increase the amount of flights to Kuala Lumpur, offering a daily service.

Gulf Air will also deploy larger aircraft on key destinations across the Levant region including Beirut to meet the expected strong seasonal demand.

Gulf Air chief commercial officer, Kyle Haywood said: "We have decided to make Aleppo and Alexandria permanent destinations on the Gulf Air network following their successful introduction during last year's summer seasonal programme.

"The addition of these two destinations will further strengthen our regional network and reinforce our position as the carrier with the largest number of Middle East connections through our Bahrain Airport hub.

Gulf Air chief executive Samer Majali said: "The launch of our summer schedule takes us another step closer to fulfilling our strategic blueprint to create an airline that reflects the needs and aspirations of its customers with a targeted, more focused regional and international network, a superior and more consistent product and a more modern, efficient fleet.

"This summer not only will our customers benefit from new services and additional flighs, they will also enjoy enhanced products and services and greater value for money with the launch of our new premium travel experience 'Falcon Gold'.

"They will also benifit from increased comfort and aircraft reliability with the deployment of our new regional jets and narrow body aircraft across our short and mid haul routes."

Gulf Air's new Embraer aircraft, will be used on high frequency routes including Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Baghdad.
