ARCHITECTURE student Faisal Sheikh has designs on musical success and hopes to secure the Talent Trail 2010 title with a show-stopping performance on Bahrain TV's Channel 55 tonight.

Faisal, 23, a singer/guitarist from Segaiya, near Zinj, will be performing an self- composed song with an alterative rock and bluesy beat.

"I've been playing guitar for the past 12 years but have only been writing my own material for a couple of years now."

His musicianship has already earned him a following on the island and two of his songs 'Hide Me' and 'I'm Afraid of Things Like You' are featured on the popular Elham Arts Society compilation album.

Faisal, a Bahraini studying at Gulf University, says he has been inspired by bands such as Nirvana who hit the mainstream in the 1990s, popularising a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge.

GulfWeekly has joined up with the English language station-of-the-nation to undercover the kingdom's most promising entertainer.

We will highlight every contestant invited to appear on the Talent Trail 2010 segment of presenter Krazy Kevin's Music Mania chart show.

Readers and viewers will be able to vote in a special final edition of the programme and the contestant who receives the most votes will walk away with a prize trophy.

A panel of invited judges will be able to comment on the recorded performances ... but it will be your e-mail vote that counts.

Each act chosen to appear live on Music Mania will be featured in GulfWeekly. Catch the show tonight at 8pm or alternatively, you can watch the repeats on Friday and Sunday at 9pm. Presenter Krazy Kevin said: "I have been amazed at the interest Talent Trail 2010 has generated and there certainly appears to be a lot of performers in the kingdom with the K factor!"

The contest is open to all, you simply have to be a resident of Bahrain and be a solo act. If you can dance, sing, perform magic tricks or tell a few jokes e-mail krazykevin@hotmail.com for your chance at stardom.
