Stage is set for grand finale of Batelco 2000cc

The Batelco 2,000cc Challenge reaches an exciting climax this weekend when the eighth and final round of the 2009/2010 season takes place at the Bahrain International Circuit on Friday.

The meeting will see some year-long rivalries decided, including that for the coveted drivers' title being fought over between defending champion Mustafa Al Khan and leading championship rivals Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The round is being organized by the Circuit Racing Club in co-operation with the Bahrain International Circuit. It will be held along the circuit's 2.55km inner track.

During the previous round, a brilliant performance by Al Khan saw him secure a fantastic double. His twin victories helped him regain number one position in the championship standings, and he now heads into the season finale in front of Shaikh Hamad bin Isa by just four points and Shaikh Salman bin Isa by six.

The top three are followed closely by Shaikh Jaber bin Ali Al Khalifa, who still has a shot at the title, only 10 points behind Al Khan in fourth place.

Apart from all the exciting action in the series, there will be plenty going on off the track.

Tickets are half the price for children aged 10 and under, while children upto the age of three can get in for free.
