Al Riwaq Art Space will host an artist talk with Mounira Al Solh on Monday at 7 pm.
During the event, which is organised in collaboration with Mondriaan Foundation, the Lebanese artist will be discussing her practice, focusing in particular on her work 'Paris without a Sea'. The video was featured in an exhibition 'As the Land Expands' which took place at Al Riwaq Art Space in March.
'Paris without a Sea' was one of the most talked about works in the exhibition; the video focuses on Mounira Al Solh' interviews with a group of men who swim everyday at the beach in Beirut no matter what the circumstances.
Mounira was born in Beirut in 1978. She currently lives and works between Beirut and Amsterdam. Her work is multi-disciplinary oscillating between video, photography, installation, writing and painting.
On Sunday she will be also hosting a workshop for Bahraini artists at Al Riwaq Art Space with a number of instructors including William Wells, Camille Zakharia and Balqees Fakhro. For details contact info@alriwaqartspace.com or 17717441.
