THE Royal Golf Club recently welcomed Tim Backhouse, a British PGA Teaching Professional, who will work at the Club's state- of-the-art golf academy for the next seven months.

Backhouse's first task was to take on 2010 Gents Captain Isa Al Borshaid and Phil Jones, the Club's director of golf, in a Captain's Challenge match in support of the Bahrain Junior Golf Development Fund.

Backhouse and playing partner John Wilson, the club's golf events key account manager, were 4 up in the match after 9 holes, going on to win 3 and 2.

"I'm delighted to be here in Bahrain and feel sure I'm going to really enjoy my time at the Royal Golf Academy," said Backhouse.

"The facilities are second to none and all the golfers I've met so far have been very welcoming."

Backhouse, who moved from Bromborough Golf Club in the UK, will provide coaching to golfers of all ages and abilities. He is also an experienced club fitter, having previously worked for the international club manufacturer, Taylormade.
