I'VE noticed a lot of work going on along Budaiya Highway on my travels to and from work.
The horrible grey metal barriers near the Burgerland Roundabout have been replaced with more ornate looking railings and grass and trees have been planted making the whole area much more attractive. I wonder if your newspaper could explain what is going on. All they need to do now is to get rid of the scorch marks on the road!

THERE is so much happening in the kingdom nowadays I can't possibly fit everything into my diary. This weekend alone there's our winter fair, the Irish Festival, the BSPCA dog walk as well as the free animal show I've been reading about in GulfWeekly. No-one can moan about being bored in Bahrain!

VOLVO is calling for volunteers for the inaugural 2011 Volvo Golf Champions which will take place on the Montgomerie Course at The Royal Golf Club from January 27-30.
More than 250 volunteers are required at the tournament every day of the four-day event to make it a success. There are opportunities to volunteer from marshals to walking scorers and not all positions require golf knowledge. Commitment is needed for at least two days of the tournament and volunteers will be rewarded with a range of benefits and gifts.
The initial push for volunteers has been going really well and we have already received more than 150 entries from golfers and non-golfers alike.
We are already excited about welcoming some of the world's best golfers to Bahrain in January and are looking for passionate and enthusiastic people to help us to put on this world-class tournament.
Anyone wishing to apply as a volunteer needs to be over 18 and physically fit. Visit www.volvogolfchampions.com for details.
