GEMS Consulting, a subsidiary of GEMS Education, the largest kindergarten to grade 12 private education operator in the world, has told private school and kindergarten owners in Bahrain that preparation, and an ongoing commitment to quality, is the key to doing well in school reviews.

This was the key message delivered to school and kindergarten owners and principals at a free seminar organised by GEMS Consulting entitled 'Creating Schools of Excellence' - Is your school performing to a level that you are happy with or at the level required by government and to the level demanded by parents?'

Over 120 schools and kindergarten owners and principals, plus representatives from the Ministry of Education, Tamkeen, the Economic Development Board and the Bahrain Teacher Training College attended the seminar.

Executive director Margaret Corcoran told participants that GEMS applauds Bahrain's vision of providing the highest quality education to its people and believes that school and kindergarten reviews are essential to achieving the government's objectives.

"Bahrain believes, quite rightly, that it cannot progress without developing and improving the quality of its human capital. It is the country's children who will become the leaders of the nation in the future so providing them with a quality education is critical," she said.

Mrs Corcoran added that school and kindergarten owners are now aware of the rigorous regulatory educational environment in Bahrain, which includes school reviews and a requirement for all schools to self evaluate and set targets for improvement within a given time frame.

The seminar was supported by workshops on several topics ranging from review processes and consulting to improvement programmes aimed at the owners of kindergartens and private schools in Bahrain.
