Suhail Algosaibi vs. Bahrain's obesity. So who won? You decide! The founder of the DreamBody Centre (DBC) took on a challenge to make the island lighter. He did it by offering 10 free memberships to 10 lucky women to help tackle the obesity crisis that the kingdom is facing.
The battle began last October when the book Top Ten of Everything 2011, written by Russell Ash, came out. It claimed that Bahrain had the most obese women in the world, with over 45 per cent of them being overweight and having a BMI of more than 25.
Outraged at these statistics, Mr Algosaibi announced the offer of 10 free memberships to Bahrain's first and only 23-minute weight-loss centre which candidates had to apply for.
Women from various backgrounds applied and since then the 'top 10' have been determined to turn their lives around and now have the results to show for their hard work. Here are the results achieved so far:
Eman Fadel, who came to DBC because she was starting to lose her self-confidence and wanted a new start got just that. She has to date lost five inches and 1.2kg.
Najla Srour, had tried so many diets and exercises before she came to DBC, and wondered if she would lose weight with the DreamBody Centre. In eight weeks she has now lost 3.1kg and four inches.
Azra Abdullah, who came to the DreamBody Centre saying that she had tried to lose weight for a long time, and was now desperate to lose some for her wedding early next year. She has now lost 2.4kg in just eight weeks. She's also lost two inches and is continuing to lose more.
Doctors urged Lynn Holleran to lose weight. She came to DBC and has lost four inches of fat in her first few weeks. Lynn hasn't been regular in attending, but she still has hope of losing more weight if she continues.
Zainab Khamis, had a bit of a slow start but she is now back in gear and attending DBC up to two times per day. Zainab's results are yet to be seen.
Sana Shaukat, had battled obesity in the past, but she was stuck on a weight and had lost hope of losing any more. Her friends even told her that she would never lose any more weight, than she already had. Since joining, Sana has lost 8.5 inches and 6.2kgs.
Sisters Asma and Sana Sharif, who have been battling obesity for a long time now, came to the DBC as a last resort. Asma has now lost five inches and 2.6kgs, and Sana has lost a whopping 3kg and 10 inches of fat.
Elizabeth Wuest, wanted a healthy lifestyle to play with her young daughter. Elizabeth had to travel for personal reasons and could not attend, so she still hasn't seen any results.
Fatima Ali, used to feel a large barrier between her and others, and she wanted to break it and live life to the full. Since she began she has lost seven inches and 7kgs.
The collective weight-loss of all 10 women is 22.4kg and 45.5 inches.
So do you think Suhail has won this round of Suhail vs. Bahrain's obesity? Do you think Bahrain is significantly lighter? Do you think this is a battle that the DreamBody Centre can win? Do you think Bahrain will be on the top 10 fat woman list ever again?
