Thursday (Jan 13) Al Riwaq Art Space will host an outdoor arts and crafts market today and tomorrow in Adliya's Block 338 entitled Market 338 presenting local Bahraini and Bahrain-based designers who will showcase their talents and creativity. The seventh Mothercare Inter School Quiz Contest will be held at Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Diamond Jubilee Hall at 7.30 pm. The event will be conducted by international quizmaster Derek O'Brien. The Bharathi Association will celebrate the harvest festival of Pongal at the Indian Club from 10.30am. It is a cultural and heritage celebration of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Some activities include 'kolam decorations', sports and games.

At noon, a traditional Pongal feast will be served to members and guests. The evening session starts at 6.30pm with a speech delivered by literary scholar and art film director Bharathi Krishnakumar on the subject Thamizhukku Amuthendru Pair - to underscore the depth and uniqueness of the Tamil language. It will be followed by a show entitled Nagariga Komali - theatrical presentation with social satire performed by a well-known Poobalan cultural troupe. Saturday (Jan 15)

British production house Shakespeare 4 Kidz (S4K) will stage A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Alumni Club, Adliya, at 4.30pm, tomorrow at 10am and 4.30pm and on Monday at 10am.

Tickets for the shows are BD13 for children and BD16 for those over 18 years old.
