A NEW 65 bed state-of-the-art private multi-specialty hospital opened its doors in Salmaniya for the first time at the weekend, writes Anasuya Kesavan.
The Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH), a sister concern of the KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre, began its operations on Saturday with 55 doctors and 102 nurses after several mock-up trials and a major staff training drive.
The facility is a joint venture between Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) group and its Bahraini partners.
The BD6 million medical facility is equipped with a complete range of high-tech medical equipment. This week it has launched a number of departments including orthopaedics, cosmetic and plastic surgery, dentistry, physiotherapy and a 24-hour clinic. The hospital outpatient clinic is also functioning.
Dr Ashish Banerji, chief operating officer, said: "As a multi-specialty hospital, RBH is offering affordable care and scientific expertise in an extensive range of medical departments.
"For a new hospital we are pleased with the response. We should be completely operational by the end of February."
RBH is located in a new, purpose-built, four-storey building and covers a total area of 70,000 square feet. Officials say that it will provide a variety of 'premium services at reasonable prices'.
When completely operational the new hospital will offer in-patient accommodation, suites and deluxe rooms, food and beverage and cafeteria services, a gift shop, pharmacy, ambulance and transport services.
It boasts a specialist sleep lab, intensive care unit, operation theatre, 16-slice CT scan machine, clinics for diabetes, a health screening centre and a breast care centre.
The hospital is offering free registration to all new patients and discounts for the outpatient department for the next six-months. Call 17246800 for more information.
