The Bahrain Irish Society will present UK-based ABBA tribute FABBAGIRLS in concert at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel. Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma of Triskelion International Kingdom of Bahrain (TIKOB) Council will present part six of the 'Pinoy Bands in Concert' from 2pm to 7pm at the pool area of Delmon International Hotel in Manama. The Lost Paradise of Dilmun will host a Dorakk festival dedicated to metal and heavy music fans. The festival, staged on the beach area, will feature bands such as Thee Project, Lunacyst and Motor Militia. Other acts who will be taking part are Atom, Rain in Hell, Sounds of Ruby from Saudi Arabia.

The festival will also feature a BBQ and different activities during the performances. Tickets cost BD6 in advance and BD9 at the gate and are available at the room 2 rock music shop in Hamala and online at www.LPODwaterpark.com or at Lost Paradise of Dilmun on the day from 4pm to midnight.

A mix media workshop begins today at the Al Riwaq Art Space in Adliya from 12pm to 3pm until February 26. Spanish artist Mercedes Gonzalez de Garay will introduce her mixed media project 'Gypsy Time', which introduces her street art- to-canvas style. Working with stencil, spray, acrylics, painting, drawing and collage, Mercedes will demonstrate technique and concept. The workshop costs BD35 including all materials.

Sunday (Feb 20)

A 'typology' photographic exhibition entitled 'Same, Same but Different' is being held at the AL Riwaq Art Space in Adliya. The exhibition will be held until February 28 and will feature the work of eight Bahrain-based photographers namely Asma Murad, Francine Burlet, Stephanie Ravel, Saji Antony, Roselyne Brault, Loraine Todd, Loredana Mantello and Andrea Eaneux. It is the outcome of a workshop conducted last spring by artist and photographer Camille Zakharia, who is also the curator of the exhibition. For details contact 17717441.

Monday (Feb 21)

The Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir will host the Bahrain Open Drag Challenge starting at 5 pm with prize money and trophies up for grabs. Entrance to the event is free. The event is being organised by BIC, in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation and the Bahrain Drag Racing Club (BDRC). A raffle will reward up to 30 winners with cash prizes. A new Mitsubishi car will also be raffled during the evening.
