Zzzz ... like a baby

A RECENT study has revealed that parents miss out on nearly six months of essential sleep in the first two years of a child's birth because they have to cater to the baby's needs both day and night.

While infants usually require constant attention, with frequent feedings and nappy changes, experts point out that even rashes could be a cause for discomfort and sleep interruptions among babies, which in turn leads to sleep deprivation among parents.

Studies reveal that the climate of the Middle East makes babies more prone to nappy rash, a condition that may lead to infection if left untreated.

A rash usually begins after frequent chafing of the skin. The redness and dryness of the baby's skin, along with the inconvenience the child suffers, can be worrying for the parents, especially since babies suffering from diaper rashes cannot sleep well at night.
