International DJ Stevie George can be found entertaining the masses at Muju Lounge on Amwaj Island and many other places around Bahrain.
With so much unrest across the region I thought I would try and help out in the only way I know how. I have put together some thought provoking songs that you may or may not recognise - but more importantly, spend a few minutes checking out the following tunes that are in no particular order, and then see how you feel afterwards!
Gary Jules and Michael Andrews - Mad World: originally written and produced by Tears For Fears but this version from the movie Donnie Darko is haunting and moving at the same time.
David Guetta - One Love: probably one of the most recognised names in current chart history this song features the very powerful vocals from Estelle.
Alcazar - This Is The World We Live In: not a song that many people will instantly recognise, nor the band for that matter, but a great tune with lyrics to suit.
Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World: need I say anymore, an absolute classic that people from all nations will recognise.
Duran Duran - Ordinary World: when this single first came out I must admit it wasn't my favourite 1980s tune but now when I hear it I do stop and think.
Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove: this album is regarded by many as the greatest funk album of all time and ranks near the top of many best album lists.
Gary Clail - (There's Something Wrong With) Human Nature: on first release in 1994 I loved the bass line in this song, but I've suggested this purely with the lyrics in mind. Google it and see what I mean.
Bob Marley - One Love/People Get Ready: the master at creating songs that united people around the world, this song needs no introduction.
Jamiroquai - Don't Give Hate A Chance: love him or hate him, JK did release a fantastic album, and this particular tune hits all the right notes for this feature. The video is pretty cool too.
John Lennon - Imagine: no song list could really be complete without something from the legend himself, and again this needs no introduction. Every lyric is chosen with care and attention giving us a very moving tune.
But the ultimate unity - one love let's get the world working together singalong from 1971 it was originally written for a Coca Cola advert, but then the words were changed and released as a number 1 hit single. I challenge you not to listen to this and be moved:
The New Seekers - I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony):
Here's hoping everybody keeps safe, and that all our differences can be rectified sooner rather than later. Until next week people, some wise words:
There are three kinds of people in this world - those who can count and those who can't!"
