SEEF Mall is steaming ahead and on track to entice even more families to the popular shopping destination with its new free train service.

Adults and children can jump on board the two indoor trains dubbed the 'Seef Express' as they tour around key areas of the mighty mall.

Robert Addison, general manager of Seef Properties, believes the attraction is just the ticket and described the service as 'a unique facility' and something no other mall in the kingdom can boast.

"We are committed to making our shoppers' experience as enjoyable and convenient as possible and I am sure they will truly enjoy the leisurely and fun rides abroad the Seef Express," he added.

The terrific trains which started service last week have already created a positive impression with shoppers, young and old alike.

Emma Salari, owner of Silly Billy Games, had her hands full with shopping bags and was happy to take a ride with her four-year old son, Ali Samer. She said: "This has definitely helped with my shopping - I did not have to carry everything around on foot!

"After being stuck at home for so long because of the recent unrest this is a welcome attraction now that families can get out and about once again. The children absolutely love it!"

Ghada Salem, 31, managing partner of Mums in Bahrain, dropped by to check out the new attraction with her three-year-old son, Omar Ahmed. The Hamala resident said: "This idea is just brilliant! It is amazing for parents to check out the stores and to look out for bargains in comfort and even more fun for children.

"The trains are neat and safe and they also play music. I really enjoy coming to the Seef Mall as it is now such a child-friendly place."

Najma Noor, 37, from Saar, said: "This is so exciting but my daughter Shahad, three, kept wondering why the train didn't make a train-like noise like the ones we travelled on in Italy during our holiday!"

The trains are driven by Magic Island staff members Enrico Asuncion and Jassim Al Dhamen. Mr Asuncion, 33, who lives in Jeblat Hibshi, said that although he had a car driving licence, manoeuvring through the mall on his train demanded extreme care and attention.

He said: "We have gone through two days of rigorous training and safety is our number one priority."

Mr Al Dhamen, 40, from A'ali, an actor who has been part of the Magic Island team for a decade, said: "Driving a train is great fun and the little ones absolutely adore the experience."

The trains are large enough to carry up to five adults in each of their four cabins and passengers can disembark at several designated stops along the route.

Seef Properties recently launched a BD2.5 million refurbishment plan to update its look and feel.
