The quality of Bahrain's hotels will help the sector woo back customers and compete on the international stage, according to a manager spearheading a drive for excellence.
Recent unrest has devastated the kingdom's hospitality industry and the Al Safir Hotel and Tower is confident it has set the standards to meet the challenges ahead.
Situated amongst high-rise buildings on the main Juffair road, the hotel recently made headlines when it was presented with certificates in three different areas covering Quality Management, Occupational Health and Safety and Food Safety Management.
"The international demand for quality products and services is growing tremendously," said Tapan Ghimire, quality control manager. "But it does not happen automatically; it has to be created, it has to be assured and documented.
"Quality procedures and requirements have to be developed, managed and improved upon. It has always become a greater challenge for the hospitality industry to satisfy the needs of its discerning clientele accustomed to the highest standard of products and services."
Mr Ghimire believes the hospitality industry in the GCC will continue to flourish and Bahrain can continue to attract a wide spectrum of tourism business.
He added that the decision of Al Safir Hotel and Tower to get ISO certification was one of its 'biggest achievements' as it became the first hotel in the kingdom to achieve management system certifications for three international standards at once.
