MITSUBISHI Outlander (SUV) and Outlander Sport (CUV) recently became the most awarded all-wheel drive vehicles when they broke five Guinness World Records within a 24-hour period.
In order to accomplish the task, Mitsubishi staff drove a 2011 Outlander and a 2011 Outlander Sport to the chilly Ghost Lake in Alberta, Canada, where company crews prepared a number of trial courses on the frozen surface.
The records broken include the greatest distance driven by a vehicle in reverse on snow in 30 seconds, shortest braking distance by a vehicle on ice, most vehicle figure eights on ice in two minutes, fastest vehicle slalom relay on ice and fastest driven square lap respectively.
Both models have Mitsubishi's all-wheel-control system, which makes driving in adverse road conditions more stable and safer. The innovative system measures such parameters as throttle input, engine and wheel speed.
Zayani Motors, Mitsubishi dealers in Bahrain, were delighted. Jimmy Chamata, marketing manager, said: "We are thrilled to have on board the finest vehicles exhibiting exceptional technical prowess and record-breaking performance that ensures consistency, even in the most extreme conditions."
