International DJ Stevie George can be found entertaining the masses at Muju Lounge on Amwaj Island and many other places around Bahrain.
Well, it's birthday time again and a friend of mine, Rodney Davies from the BIC, is celebrating the big 50 this week.
So, racing ahead, I've listed some of my personal favourite motoring tunes from yesteryear (I'm sure you all have your own!) ... the sort of tunes that make you get to your destination just a little bit earlier.
Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
Hawkwind - Silver Machine
Golden Earring - Radar Love
Madness - Driving In My Car
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Tom Robinson - Grey Cortina
Deep Purple - Speed King
ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man
Status Quo - Sweet Caroline
Green Day - Holiday
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - By The Way
Blink 182 - All The Small Things
The Who - My Generation
Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
For quite a few of our younger readers most of those songs will need to be found amongst their parents CD collection, and let's remind Rodney what song was number one on the day he was born:
Elvis Presley - Wooden Heart (which was number 1 in the UK singles chart during March and April of 1961).
So here's wishing Rodney a very special 50th birthday (as long as I can get some cake!), and, as always, I'll leave you with a special thought
Make something idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
