YOUNGER legs proved the deciding factor when the veteran Arsenal Red team were narrowly edged out by the upstarts wearing the Yellow of Arsenal in a fierce encounter by the odd goal in 11.

Arsenal Red took an early lead right from the kick off thanks to new recruit, forward Esra Nurrudin. They then extended their lead with a powerful shot from midfielder Alaa Al Alawi.

Just before the break however, striker Tamara Kawash pulled one back for Arsenal Yellow.

In the second half Arsenal Yellow drew level with a great strike from midfielder Stephanie le Vesconte who placed the ball neatly into the bottom corner of the net. The yellows quickly got into their stride and took the lead following a mazy run from talisman midfielder Deena Rahman.

Arsenal Yellow continued to push forward and scored again through defender Jen Gilbert making the scoreline 4-2.

The ever-determined Red team then pulled one back through midfielder Rama Salem with a shot in off the crossbar but a minute later Yellow's Rahman scored again with a powerful blast past the diving Red keeper, Skaini.

Gilbert then scored a great goal from a narrow angle to put Yellow well in the driving seat. However, Red's fighting spirit saw them clinch two late goals back through midfielders Zain Al Amer and Salem ... but it wasn't enough and the Yellow perils left the field with a well earned 6-5 victory.

In the second game of the night, Joga Bonito continued their impressive performance with a 5-2 victory over St Christopher's Intermediate Girls.

Goals were scored by forward Aisha Al Dosari, Capatain Alaa Al Durazi, striker Eman Ebrahim and midfielder Sara Al Aali. St Christopher's goals were well taken by strikers Melinda Legg and Rawan Alsaegh.

The seven-a-side Arsenal Soccer School Ladies League takes place at the Batelco Sports Ground in Hamala every Monday evening from 7pm to 9pm with the sides competing for the coveted GulfWeekly trophy.

Earlier this week, the Desert Divas played Arsenal Red and The St Chris girls took on Arsenal Yellow.
