ARSENAL Yellow continued their winning streak with a fourth consecutive victory. This time they took on the Desert Divas and secured a 3-0 win.
Senior Arsenal coach and talisman Deena Rahman continued on her goalscoring roll with another hat-trick. The former England international said: “The young team has come together very well and we are improving every week.Fantastic job ladies!”
Arsenal Red and Joga Bonito featured in the evening’s second fixture. It proved to be a tiring, physical challenge for both sides but Joga narrowly notched the points with a 2-1 victory.
Joga’s forwards Alaa Al Durazi and Aisha Al Dosari scored a goal apiece. Captain Al Durazi said: “It was a tough match. The Joga girls went out to enjoy their football and I think that’s why we won – because we played for fun.
Arsenal Red captain, Rama Salem, was proud of her team for their determination and hunger on the field. She said: “It really was a very challenging match and I think Joga played absolutely beautiful football.
“We went very close on several occasions. We had some really great chances but Joga’s goalie was on top form. They were the best team we have played so far. It made step up our game and next time the Arsenal Red’s come calling will be ready for them!”
The Arsenal Reds also welcomed back striker Reema Al Qassab to the fold. She was injured during the recent game against St Christopher’s Intermediate.
This week the teams challenging for the GulfWeekly Ladies Premiership Trophy have taken a rest from the league to concentrate on cup glory. Group One features St Christopher Intermediate, the Saudi team Easter Flames and Joga Bonito.
Group Two has Arsenal Red and Yellow along with the Desert Divas.
Each team will play each other twice in group games lasting 10 minutes. The cup final will be between the two sides finishing top of their respective groups.
The league will continue next week with Desert Divas playing against Joga Bonito and Arsenal Red playing a sprightly St Christopher’s Intermediate.
