A RESTAURANT offering popular dishes from South-East and Far-East Asian cuisine has recently opened at Amwaj Islands.
Located at the Lagoon, Houseboat offers a selection of tantalising starters and main course dishes from Thailand, Japan, China and India. The menu boasts a range of chicken, sea food and sushi dishes.
Restaurant manager Aires D’Souza, said that the eatery is inspired by the popular houseboats of Kerala in India where people can enjoy a day out sailing through the Kochi backwaters and taste the local flavours.
Mr D’Souza, who helped to set up the NuAsia restaurants on the island, added: “Our concept is to offer a range of Asian tastes – customers have a choice aimed at catering to the desires of everyone in a party.”
Inside seated guests have a choice of tables in tastefully designed cabins that face the lagoon.
The restaurant offers several exotic dishes including Tobiko Gunkan, a Japanese speciality dish made of flying fish egg and several items featuring prawn, octopus, crab, salmon and mackerel.
Indian favourites on the menu include the ever-popular Chicken Makhani and Chicken Tikka Masala. A spread of vegetarian dishes are also on offer.
Another attraction on the menu are the fruit ‘mocktails’, created by Mr D’Souza, with interesting names matched to the dishes on offer.
