SHOPPERS have been told that a close watch on supplies has been instigated in the run up to Ramadan by the Consumer Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

The directorate will maintain a periodic inventory of a number of food items including rice, sugar, oil, wheat, dates, beans and canned goods as well as frozen meat and chicken.

Its officers will also be in regular communication with local suppliers to identify any potential food stocks issues and are planning a number of field visits to storage facilities.

Other moves include field visits to local markets to observe trade movements and the availability of goods.

The directorate also plans to distribute ‘awareness bulletins’ on the best ways to prepare and shop before and during the holy month.

For any further information, contact the Consumer Protection Directorate hotline on 17530096, 39531888 or visit www. moic.gov.bh/moic/ar or its premises in the Diplomatic Area.
