The Tamil festival begins at the Indian Club on October 7 with an inauguration programme at 6.30pm. The chief guest will be Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar. It will feature a debate and literary speech by Najil Sampath. A Tamil classical music concert by Sangeetha Ram Prasad will be held on October 8 at 7pm. She will be accompanied by mirudangam player Krishna Kumar and violinist Archana Krishnakumar.
The club will host a tribute to South Indian actor Gemini Ganesan on October 9 at 8pm featuring a documentary highlighting his film career and achievements.
On October 12 the club will host a ‘Cookery Nite’ at 8pm featuring live cookery demonstration and cooking competition.
The club will host a cricket tournament on October 13 from 8pm entitled ‘Chennaikku Whistle Podu’.
Finally, a grand light musical with live orchestra will be held at 6.30pm on October 14 featuring Tamil film hits presented by local artistes.
The Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research will host an exhibition of recent works by Bahraini sculptor Khalil Al Hashimi at the Bin Matar House from October 9 to 22. ‘BRONZE + STONE’ will feature more than 20 sculptures made in a variety of stones from his own collection including marble, onyx and limestone.

After the recent Summer Biathlon, a series of similar events will be staged later this year. A sprint triathlon will take place on October 14 featuring a 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run. An Olympic triathlon will be held on November 4 featuring a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and a 10km run and the Half Ironman triathlon will be held on December 2 featuring a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1 km run. Also taking place on November 4 and December 2 will be a ‘Try a Tri’ for participants aged from 11 featuring a 300m swim, 10km cycle and a 3km run, and a sprint triathlon featuring 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.
