Enthusiastic vocal support from the terraces was not enough to secure victory for the home side as Bahrain Duty Free Bahrain Rugby Club crashed 23-7 to Jebel Ali Dragons in the opening encounter of the Gulf Top Six series.

The first 11 took a 7-3 lead into the break but their hearts were broken by former hero Euan Kelly who notched the UAE outfit’s third try.

It’s back to the drawing board for coach Jim Rowark and his new look squad after losing the services of several key experienced players over the summer.
